Thank you for your interest in Positive Light and the Crowdsourced Travel project. Positive Light is a new photography project meant to show the stunning beauty of Bangladesh to the world. The project has just announced a publishing partnership with Drik, Bangladesh’s premiere institution of photography.
As part of the larger Crowdsourced Travel project, Positive Light is also a travel photography website that will harness the energy of photographers of Bangladesh – amateur, professional** or hobbyist — into one place. The goal is to accumulate the country’s best travel photography into a single resource library for usage in promoting Bangladesh internationally. All images published here will be licensed under a Creative Commons attribution license (CC BY), which means that anyone doing tourism related work in Bangladesh can republish these images on their website without breaking copyright rules. Other than usage in the Bangladesh: Bradt Travel Guide and Positive Light photography book, no further print resolution (ie high resolution) use of the images will be permitted without the photographer’s written permission.
To fund production of the book, we are now crowdfunding a full print run of Positive Light. Your support is required to offset the large printing cost required to create a Bangladesh-based print run of Positive Light. Funds raised in this project will also provide the venture capital necessary to start Crowdsourced Travel and support Drik, two social enterprises whose goal is to create social justice and new economic opportunities in undertravelled destinations such as Bangladesh, by involving the resources of its community.
At the moment there are two publication destinations for the result of this project — the first is the Positive Light photo book, a coffee-table style, 140-page, large format photography book that has been published with Drik. Selected photos were also be published in the 2nd edition of Bangladesh: The Bradt Travel Guide.

Ten percent of Positive Light proceeds supports WildTeam
The above clip is from WildTeam’s Wild Rickshaw Challenge — an innovative and powerful initiative promoting a positive vision for nature in Bangladesh.
Tigers are an endangered species, which has lost 97 percent of its population over the last century. There are 3,200 magnificent tigers left in the world and these face huge poaching pressure as the demand for tiger parts continues to rise with rising incomes across Asia.
The Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest on earth, can hold approximately 400 tigers. This remote corner of India and Bangladesh is a unique stronghold for tigers. Here, WildTeam is working alongside the local people to overcome tiger threats and build a future for tigers in Bangladesh.
The founders of Crowdsourced Travel cannot imagine a world without tigers. And that’s why we’ve committed a part of the proceeds of Positive Light project to raising funds and awareness for Bangladesh’ premiere tiger conservation organization WildTeam.
By purchasing Positive Light you are also supporting the efforts of WildTeam in Bangladesh. Thank you. Ten percent of Positive Light’s profits are going to WildTeam’s work in preserving tigers.
